I have the honour of having Mike Robinson stop by my blog today, promoting his latest release THE PRINCE OF EARTH. He also has another horror / thriller called THE GREEN-EYED MONSTER which has had glowing reviews. As production manager for Curiosity Quills Press, I got to see sneak peeks of this book and I have to say it's GOOD!!
You can see Prince's Youtube trailer here: Video
And find it on Goodreads: HERE
And Amazon: HERE

And I've asked Mike some question... take it away, Mike.
1. What can't you live without while
writing?
Hmmm....probably my drug dealer.
Kidding! I'd say I can't live without three things: books, stimulating people
and, to a much lesser extent, coffee, or some form of caffeine. Reading while
writing is essential. I liken it to inhaling-exhaling, where the inhaling is
reading, the exhaling is writing. They're inextricable. I am also very
fortunate to be surrounded by highly intelligent, open-minded people I'm close
to, each of whom exercises my gray matter in different ways. We talk politics,
philosophy, movies, books, music, conspiracy theories, anything. Such things
always feed the writing.
2. What are you working on now?
I just finished Book I of II of a
large science-fantasy series, which, like many projects, has been with me in
some form for many ages. But more presently I'm beginning collaboration with
bestselling author Aiden James, on the third installment of his Talisman
Chronicles, which will be published by Curiosity Quills Press.
3. Where did the idea come from for The
Prince of Earth?
The seed was planted when I was
about 13, and first read of Scotland's "Big Gray Man", a humanoid
entity said to haunt the United Kingdom's second highest peak, Ben MacDui.
Combined with the eerie, misty atmosphere, the idea has always stimulated me,
and for many years I produced a series of stillborn stories about it, none of
which ever got off the ground. Then, finally, the character of Quincy Redding popped
into my head, and told me to go for it. I dove in, fleshing out the story,
enshrouding myself in the Highlands, and the journey proved a fruitful one. At
last, I got that particular fascination out of my system.
Sounds like the character jumped into your head and didn't let you go :)
Now, onto three random things:
1. Ice-cream or chocolate?
Chocolate ice cream? Heh heh. I
suppose it depends on the kind of ice cream and the kind of chocolate in
question.
2. Coffee or Coke?
Definitely coffee. Unless I'm
snacking on chips.
3. Snow or Ocean?
Being from Los Angeles, I'd have to
say ocean.
Great answers, Mike! And now I have to add your book to my TBR pile. Great interview.
ReplyDeleteNice interview. I love getting a peek into a writer's process/inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jade!! Awesome questions.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he didn't choose snow over the ocean. That would be just WRONG!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book, Mike!
